Tomorrow night (12/9/11), I'll be performing my one man show "The Rucksack Cabaret." I did a version of it a few years ago where I peppered in some covers and made a few comments between songs, but this one is going to be all my songs and the stories in between. All of the songs in the show were written between here and California after I hitchhiked to Colorado and tooled up and down the west coast on a motorcycle before landing in the City of Angels.

Initially, I took to the road because normal society and I weren't getting along. I was disordered to them, and they were disordered to me. They still seem pretty disordered to me, and I probably still seem disordered to them, but I generally smile a lot more often than they do so I don't really trust what society might think of me. Nevertheless, with the Occupy movement growing and people taking a more active role in their lives, I do see sign of improvement in society, so from my vantage point things seem to be in just the right order. Nevertheless, we've still got a ways to go.

I hope that, ten years after I started my journey, the lessons I was supposed to learn have finally sunk in deeply enough that my story might be used to help other people find their own way, or at least point them toward a new adventure. Although the first leg of my journey was a rather precarious one that most wouldn't want to emulate, and though my current lifestyle is probably not one that people want to embrace either, I still think that the unique perspective that I offer from the razor's edge of sanity might just give people enough a healthy enough dose of radical pragmatism to open up and reconsider the possibility for some paradigm shifts.
