Eddie was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up in the small town of Gladewater Texas. He studied architecture and history in high school and was involved in the Future Teachers of America program as well as working on the high school newspaper and year books, he also was responsible for being recognized by the UIL in writing and photography. He also attended Kilgore Junior College as well at North Texas State University.
Mr. Midler has resided in Sarasota for 18 years in which most of his time has been an Optician for several Optometry offices and is currently employed by Eye Center South Sarasota as the Optical Operations Manager. Mr. Midler has also been involved in restaurant ownership and management. Eddie’s parents and sister also reside in the area and is a big part of his life.
Mr. Midler has been involved in the local music scene for several years, he has watched the local music scene go through many ups and downs and is friends with many of Sarasota musicians and band members. Mr. Midler was the co-creator of the recent Noise Ordinance CD project and CD release party which featured 38 local bands and musicians performing their original music in which 34 of those bands played at an all day release party at Cock and Bull Pub in Sarasota. Mr. Midler as also been involved in promoting and volunteering for recent local music projects and community events, such as The Indie Underground Railroad Family Concert which benefited the Childrens Protection Center. He has also volunteered with the Harvey Milk Festival, Blackbird-Beatles Tribute benefiting local community radio station WSLR, as well as many other music projects in the area. Mr. Midler has also helped to promote and advertise many shows for his many musician friends in the Sarasota area.
Mr. Midler’s music influences come from growing up with parents and friends who love music and always had music as a part of everyday life. Growing up in the small East Texas Town, Mr. Midler’s family had a hardware store in which was also the only store in the town that sold records, 45′s and 8-tracks, as well as stereo equipment. Eddie remembers his parents allowing him to tag along to concerts at local establishments and he always got up and danced to anything being played on stage or on the radio.
Eddie believes that being involved in his community is very important and that music and entertainment is vital to the economy as well as personal well-being. Mr. Midler is very committed to creating a community around financial success as well as being emotionally connected to his friends and family.
